The problem as I see it; changing the name will not change the behavior of gangs or other criminal activities.
In fact, go ahead and change the name to Sherman Oaks, eventually, the bad associations will beging to stick to S.O., and then we can all fight again to rename those areas as Van Nuys or some other name that has lost its negative identity.
Beaware, that Sherman Oaks is now make up of at least 50 percent or more of large apartment buildings.
So, if you live in Van Nuys and you want your property(s) rezoned for multi-family units vote for the name change.

This is an adorable, pride of ownership area which is a reflection of the southern boarder of Sherman Oaks. As a resident of Sherman Oaks I would be proud to include such a fine community into the fold--Vicki Watson
